The history of Burdwan Medical college as we see it today,is brief. But,the roots  of this college date back to the Pre-Independence era. In those days, Burdwan town was   served by the Ronald shay Medical School. The government decided to close it down in the year 1958.

This left the town  without any health care facility. In response  to the request  made by the people of Burdwan, the government decided to have a                  Medical College –Thus was born Burdwan Medical College.  Know more
